Area Description:

Manukau and Waitemata Harbours, Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

Situation:

A strong cold southerly flow affects New Zealand, gradually easing today as a ridge of high pressure moves onto the country from the Tasman Sea. Northerlies strengthen over the lower South Island late Friday ahead of an approaching front. The front then moves over the South Island on Saturday, and onto the North Island on Sunday.

Warnings:

Strong wind advisory in force for Hauraki Gulf and Bream Head to Cape Colville.

For Manukau and Waitemata Harbours: Thursday: Southwest 15 knots, rising to 20 knots gusting 30 knots this morning. Sea becoming moderate in the morning. Fair visibility in morning showers, otherwise cloudy periods. For Hauraki Gulf: Thursday: Southwest 15 knots, rising to 20 knots this morning and to 25 knots gusting 35 knots for a time late morning through early evening. Sea becoming rough for a time late morning through early evening. Fair visibility in morning showers, otherwise cloudy periods. For Bream Head to Cape Colville: Thursday: Southwest 15 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots this morning, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots for a time late morning through early evening. Sea becoming rough morning. Fair visibility in morning showers, otherwise cloudy periods.
